Bio:
Shynoke Ortiz is Diné and originally from the Navajo Nation. Shynoke is the Program Coordinator for Proud Indigenous Youth Leaders Program at the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board, Inc. under the Community Health Education and Resiliency Program.
Shynoke is certified to train in the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) curriculum to teach others how to provide suicide first adi intervention. She also instructs Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid. Shynoke utilizes the Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) for Tribal Communities and Indigenous People 2.0 adaptation.
Shynoke received her Bachelor of Arts, as well as her Master of Community and Regional Planning, at the University of New Mexico. Shynoke's background is in community planning with much of her work being done in collaboration with native communities across New Mexico. Her passion is working with indigenous southwest communities to help improve the quality of life.
